On the last day of each year, many people look forward to the End-of-Year crossing, which has become a household ritual.
After a long year, this is the time of year when many people go to church, and churches report higher attendance during the services.
Some people prefer to move from one church to another, claiming that they are not affiliated with any one of them but wish to participate in the crossover session, while others attend services at their own churches.
These individuals start their service with a certain church congregation but end up at another church over the year, feeling satisfied that they were a part of the transfer process and not caring where they started or concluded.
However, Apostle Chris Gbedemah, the Executive Pastor of Hill City Church of Worldwide Word Ministries, explained to Asieduwaa Akumia on Joy Prime's Prime Morning show that it is not a good idea to attend many churches on the 31st night.
“No, I wouldn’t recommend that at all. There should be a local church where you’re committed to, where you submit to authority, where you believe that this man of God is called by God, sent of God, anointed, who carries the word of the Lord, and so you go there; you’re submitted; they’re a covering over you, and because you know the man of God, his character, integrity… But if you just go from place to place, you’ll be missing out on something, and you’ll look in the Spirit like you’re not really serious.”
According to him, one must also be spiritually serious by attending a certain local church and getting to know God's men to help them comprehend important matters and what God expects of them.
People who enjoy the act were urged by the clergy to attempt to stop doing it and ask God to lead them in prayer.
In a same vein, while the Apostle does not advocate for virtually attending the crossover night service, he would suggest it to someone who might be stranded in a difficult situation, so long as they have a great faith in their man of God and are disciplined enough to attend the entire session.
"Try to be really serious if you can't attend in person. Establish a setting that allows you to be there without any interruptions before the service begins, even if worship music is playing in the background, and then you may crossover," he said.
