Following a visit, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed his happiness over the recovery of Priscilla, a four-year-old leper whom he had sponsored.

Dr. Bawumia called the visit from Priscilla, who is now able to walk with a prosthetic leg, his "best Christmas gift" in a Facebook post.

According to Dr. Bawumia, Priscilla had the chance to receive medical care for her amputated limb in Italy while she was in the Weija Leprosarium.

Yesterday, when Priscilla came home from Ghana to thank me and demonstrate her ability to walk with her new leg, I received my greatest Christmas present. "Glory to God," he wrote.

Father Andrew Campbell has been caring for Priscilla at the Weija Leprosarium since she was apparently abandoned by her parents at birth because of her illness.

Her gravely damaged legs were eventually removed in Ghana following multiple unsuccessful attempts to cure them.

Dr. Bawumia, a patron of Lepers Aid Ghana, encountered Priscilla while on one of his regular visits to the leprosarium.

She has been receiving therapy and recuperation for the past five months.
