After completing a final collation procedure mandated by the Accra High Court, Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been proclaimed the Tema Central Member of Parliament-elect.

The High Court's order, which required the Electoral Commission to complete the collation of results from the two polling stations and recalculate the total votes for the constituency, was followed by the final collation and declaration procedure.

Deputy Returning Officer Francis Twum made the announcement, which verified that Forson had won by a slim margin from 148 polling places, including the two that were still open.

He received 18,870 votes, 55 more than National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Ebi Bright, who received 18,815 votes.

In addition to the results of the hotly contested 2024 General Election, this announcement completes Tema Central's parliamentary representation.

With this, the NPP now holds 90 seats in parliament.
