Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, has demonstrated beyond a reasonable question that he is the most qualified candidate for the position, according to Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana.
She praised him for his commitment, tact, and security for the general elections in 2024.
He pointed out that the IGP has shown his detractors to be mistaken and that people who disparage him do not value honest guys.
"The IGP has proven that he is the ideal candidate for the position. He has shown those who detested him to be mistaken. He is Ghana's Paul Kagame. He is a man of honor and honesty, and I pray that God would give him a long life and knowledge so that he can carry on doing good deeds. His firmness caused some people to despise him. There will always be individuals who despise you since we are only human, but you must show them that you are capable of handling any situation," he stated.
According to her, the IGP is not a power-hungry person and is prepared to resign upon request from the new Mahama administration.
"The Ghana Police Service and all the other agencies that contributed to the successful elections must also be commended," said Madam Nyonkopa Daniels.
She maintained that even if the IGP is asked to resign, he is willing to do so since he is the person who should be in charge of the Police Service.
He will be remembered for his unselfish leadership and commitment to his work. He has made police work more honorable. The police were surrounded by fewer unfavorable tags. We should be proud to have an IGP who transformed the service during his time. “The politicians know he is not a man you can manipulate, and the academics know he is a man of integrity,” she continued.
