Ahead of the December 5 election, Ghana's two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are preparing for their largest rallies and campaign activities. Unexpectedly, both parties have chosen locations that are near to one another, paving the way for a fierce battle of political support and vigour.
The NDC has chosen the Zurak Park in Madina for their rally, while the NPP will gather just a short distance away at Legon.
Enthusiastic supporters of the NDC are working nonstop in Zurak Park to make sure everything is ready for the much-anticipated event on Thursday, December 5. To make the rally memorable and powerful, stages are being prepared, decorations are being erected, and logistics are being adjusted.
In preparation for John Dramani Mahama's arrival, we are making sure everything is done correctly. The IGP has already arrived, and the police are helping us keep the throng under control," said Ludwig Hlodze, NDC's Director of Logistics and Protocol.
In a same vein, supporters of the NPP are growing more excited as they make strategic preparations at their Legon location. A few party representatives were present to ensure that everything was planned to win over supporters who would be attending the Legon Park location.
We are prepared, and everything has gone without a hitch. All Ghanaians are cordially invited to attend and hear the positive message the NPP has for them. According to Dep. National Youth Organiser Isaac Jay Hyde.
As the two major political parties gather in the region for their final campaign rallies, the notoriously congested Legon-Madina route is expected to turn into a nightmare for drivers.
With both parties’ supporters flooding the route, the already congested roadway is expected to experience an unprecedented surge in traffic.
All eyes will be on Madina and Legon as the rallies get near to observe the power dynamics of party loyalty, crowd mobilisation, and political messaging
