Samson Deen is a promising candidate to lead sports in Ghana as the country waits for a new Sports Minister.
There has been continuous conjecture on the next Sports Minister and successor to Mustapha Ussif as Ghana gets ready for a new government in January 2025.
Among the prominent individuals under consideration are Hon. Wisdom Kobena Woyome, the Member of Parliament for the South Tongu district; Ben Nunoo Mensah, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee; Herbert Mensah, the President of the World Rugby African Association; and Samson Deen, the President of the African Paralympic Committee.
Samson Deen has a wealth of managerial and administrative experience in sports. He is a desirable contender to revive Ghana's sports scene because of his remarkable record of advancing inclusion and sports development throughout Africa.
Significant progress has been made in Africa as a result of his unwavering efforts to advance parasports and inclusion. As Head of Transport, he was instrumental in the flawless execution of the 2023 African Games and oversaw the organization of the inaugural African Para Games in Accra.
Apart from his background in sports management, Deen is a prosperous businessman and the creator of the African Origin Group of Companies. He had productive stints with Ghanaian traditional football teams, such as Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko SC, and King Faisal SC. Both Presidents Samson Deen and Ben Nunoo Mensah, who serve as executives on the National Sports Authority's board, were instrumental in the 13th African Games' successful organization.
In the early 2000s, Herbert Mensah also managed Asante Kotoko, contributing to the team's success. A prominent figure in Ghanaian sports, Hon. Wisdom Kobena Woyome, MP for the South Tongu Constituency, has served on a number of committees, including the Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee. Samson Deen, though, is thought to be a strong contender for the position.
As the argument goes on, the Ghanaian sports community is anxiously expecting the announcement of the next Sports Minister. There is a tangible sense of expectancy, and the result will undoubtedly have a big influence on Ghanaian sports going forward.
