Franklin Cudjoe, president of IMANI Africa, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for ordering Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to look into the deaths of eight Ghanaians during the general elections in 2020 and 2024. Calistus Mahama, President Mahama's Executive Secretary, stressed the importance of justice in a statement released on January 10 in order to maintain accountability and provide comfort to the relatives of the victims.

Franklin Cudjoe responded to the order on Eyewitness News, praising Mahama's compassion and leadership and characterizing the action as a major step in the direction of national reconciliation.

He chastised the previous government for its inaction, drawing a comparison between Mahama's initiative and his predecessor's inaction.

“This is John and clearly speaking, this is what we need in a leader. To think that he is even thinking about the persons who died in 2020 is humane.

“The previous administration under which this whole thing happened, how many times did you hear the then-president talk about it? Just like the galamsey the man didn’t care about anything really.

“So, for me, I say that this act alone brings peace, and honour to the people who have lost their lives,” he stated.
