Ghana's outgoing president, Akufo-Addo, has asserted that the country's economy is undergoing a remarkable rebound, citing major economic growth figures as proof.
"The growth chalked can be attributed to a strong 7.2% growth rate achieved in the third quarter of 2024," the president said in his final New Year's speech to Ghanaians.
According to him, Ghanaians have shown resilience in the face of adversity, and his administration's efforts have resulted in some degree of economic growth despite both domestic and international difficulties.
Furthermore, our economy is recovering spectacularly, as seen by the outstanding 7.2% increase in the third quarter of 2024, with a 6.8% growth rate anticipated for the year.
"These accomplishments go beyond just data or figures. These are tales of transformed lives and better futures. However, I also recognize the difficulties we have encountered. There have been challenging and self-sacrificing moments along the way, and it hasn't always been easy.
"We have been put to the ultimate test in the years following COVID-19, but it has also served as a reminder of our identity as a people who come together to overcome any challenge."
