Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Executive Council, has called for a change in emphasis from concentrating on previous achievements to giving the rebuilding of Ghana's football system top priority.

Ghanaian football has declined significantly, as seen by the Black Stars' inability to earn a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which hasn't happened in more than 20 years.

Oduro Sarfo talked on the Black Stars' and other national teams' difficulties and stressed the importance of having a long-term, strategic vision and patience.

He said to Asempa FM, "Ghana, we are living in the past glories." "We should consider reconstructing. As we rebuild, we must set aside the prizes and glory. Although we desire results quickly, that strategy is unsustainable.

He also underlined the importance of creating a unified strategy for football development in order to restore Ghana's standing in the game.

"We must rebuild and give ourselves time. Our issues won't be resolved by quick fixes. It's about building a strong basis for success in the future," he continued.

The Black Stars will try to recover from their dismal 2025 AFCON qualifiers when they get ready to play Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this March.
