The Commonwealth Observer Group has given the Ghana Police Service good marks for the just concluded elections in Ghana.
The Group stated in its report that the police's efforts were essential to the success of the Saturday, December 07, 2024, elections, which it characterised as "free, fair, transparent, and decisive." According to Eric Mokgweetsi Keabetswe Masisi, Head of the Observer Group, who presented its findings to the media in Accra on Thursday, December 12, 2024, the Ghana Police Service deserves praise for conducting the elections with professionally and high standards.
He noted that it is impossible to overstate the importance of the police in the election process, demonstrating how the Service upheld national etiquette in a fresh way. "The police in Ghana were crucial in maintaining law and order and maintaining peace without resorting to violence, which is a first," he said.
Members of the Group visited eight regions during the elections, Mr. Keabetswe Masisi added, and they noted that the police "were found to be informed, alert, on task, friendly, firm, and clearly in charge of the maintenance of the peace."
In addition to offering them security during their visit to Ghana, he thanked the peace enforcement organisation for safeguarding "all Ghanaians for the exhibition of the standard ideals of the Commonwealth with respect to those attributes that define the democratic conduct of elections."
The cops were also praised by the group head for their impartiality, stewardship, and "keeping the promise you made to us with your smiling faces the first time we met."
