Russian language classes will be offered in Ghana by the Accra-based non-profit Ghana-Russia Centre for Commerce and Relations.

One of the Center's objectives, according to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Aggrey, is to improve Ghana's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) by strengthening ties between Ghana and Russia.

He clarified that the two nations must work closely together in a number of areas, including language, in order to accomplish this aim. "We are investigating the most effective ways to provide Russian language instruction to parents who wish to teach their kids a second language,"

According to Mr. Aggrey, the Centre intends to start offering pilot courses in Accra in 2025 and then spread them throughout the nation.

He wished for the program's success and its accessibility to all interested parties via online and live venues. He said that the Centre would work with telecom providers to lower the cost of data packages so that candidates could take virtual classes.

"With the advent of IT, we can easily run virtual courses online," he said. He said that he would try to get telcos to give kids free internet access so they could take these classes.

"We can work with the telcos to offer these young learners data packages or even a free online subscription, enabling parents to keep an eye on their kids while they pick up a second language." According to Mr. Aggrey, learning and speaking Russian will help Ghanaians' economies and improve their relationship with Russia.

He said these things at a ceremony to commemorate the Christmas break with local kids from St. James Anglican Basic School in Pakro, Akuapem South District, Eastern Region.
