Ahead of the next elections, the Queen Mothers of several Kumasi markets have united in support of the government and promised to fully back the ruling New Patriotic Party.

They claimed to have witnessed advances in their neighbourhoods and that the Free Senior High School program and other important programs had created a "brighter future" for their wards, which is why they vowed to support the NPP. They made this statement when Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Ghana's Minister for Roads and Highways and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, visited one of the local markets.

The MP met with the Queen Mothers to let them know that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and the NPP's presidential candidate, will be visiting the country on a campaign tour. Nana Yaa Fowaa, the Queen Mother of Central Market, spoke on behalf of the market ladies and commended the government for its many projects and efforts throughout the last eight years.

The days of having to sell belongings, including clothing, to cover our children's tuition are long gone. We have been relieved of a significant financial burden by the Free SHS program, which has also given our kids access to new prospects," she remarked.

Before 2017, there were frequent power outages, and Nana Yaa Fowaa recalled calling home to see if there was electricity before returning. "We no longer have to deal with those continuous blackouts because of the government's visionary leadership," she continued. Motivated by these successes as well as other NPP-led projects, the market ladies pledged to support the party in the next elections.

To further demonstrate their support for the NPP's vision for advancement and development, they pledged to shut down the market on December 7, 2024, in order to guarantee a sizable turnout in favour of the government's plan.
