Rachel Florence Appoh, a former Gomoa Central MP, has congratulated Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, on his election to the Gomoa Central seat.
In order to commemorate his historic victory as an independent candidate, Ms. Appoh joined A Plus for his Thanksgiving dinner.
Despite her campaign against A Plus, the former Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection stated that she will help him improve the lives of Gomoa West residents.
"I will see to it that Gomoa is developed. As the first Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, I will likewise do everything in my power to help him succeed by lending him my resources, expertise, and enthusiasm," Ms. Appoh said.
The former MP also gave an explanation of why she ran an anti-A Plus campaign during the election.
"I will always be loyal to and appreciate NDC because they made Raheal Appoh, so I had to campaign for my party." She said, "I can never campaign for any other person, regardless of the relationship, because I was trained as a student leader to become an MP."
Former Mfantsiman West MP Aquinas Tawiah Quansah and NDC Central Regional Chairman Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu joined Ms. Appoh.
A Plus defeated incumbent MP and NPP candidate Naana Eyiah Quansah, who received 11,637 votes, with an astounding 14,277 votes out of 36,026 valid ballots cast.
With 10,112 votes, Yawson Mohammed of the NDC came in third.
The win has shocked the constituency and represents A Plus's first appearance in Parliament.
