Dr. Ayew Afriyie, the Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore, has urged the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) youth to maintain optimism on the party's chances of winning elections in 2025 and beyond.
Despite the electoral defeat on December 7, 2024, Dr. Ayew Afriyie is confident that the NPP would recover stronger and encourages the party's youth to be optimistic.
Although last year's electoral defeat was unexpected, the outspoken legislator wrote in a poignant address to the party's thronging youth that it was time for the party, and particularly the youth wing, to get over the setback and face the upcoming years with newfound optimism and dedication.
After the humiliating loss to its fiercest political foe, the NDC, in the polls on December 7, there are questions regarding how the NPP will be able to rebuild its support base.
However, the member of parliament for Effiduase Asokore believes that 2025 should mark a new era for the party and exhorts all factions to brace themselves for the fight that lies ahead.
As the primary founder of the once-vibrant Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG), he is well-known for maintaining the party's grassroots advocacy. He has stated that he is willing to assist the party's grassroots revival even as "we prepare to offer constructive and credible opposition to the incoming NDC administration."
We must remain focused as we start the healing process to determine the reason behind our failure and rebuild this party. "Now is not the time for us to lose hope; the NPP is a party with a strong foundation, and we have been here before as a party and came out even stronger," he said.
