The flag bearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated that he will only accept the results of Saturday's elections provided they are conducted fairly.

The former president says the December 07 exercise should be transparent and credible in light of worries about the electoral process's integrity. In an exclusive interview with the BBC, the NDC presidential candidate stated that his party will not accept the poll's results if they are marked by irregularities and violence.

He stated that for Ghana's democracy to flourish, a free and fair political process is necessary. If the integrity of Saturday's elections is maintained, Mahama believes Ghana's democracy has a better opportunity of developing and moving forward.

The NDC's presidential candidate cited a number of possible problems, including ballot snatching, voter intimidation, and the use of security to obstruct the voting process. He stated that he would find it difficult to accept the outcome of any action that damages the process's credibility.

"You expect me to accept the outcome if there is rampant ballot stealing, beatings, military presence and intimidation, and thugs on the rampage on election day? It will rely on how fair and transparent the process is," he stated.
