The Office of the President has officially announced the cessation of board memberships for statutory boards, corporations, commissions and councils following the assumption of office by President John Dramani Mahama.
This directive is in accordance with the provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President, sent out a notice stating that as of January 7, 2025, the day of President Mahama's swearing-in, all former Ministers of State and those appointed to these boards, commissions, and councils by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo were no longer in office.
The statement emphasized that, in compliance with their respective enabling legislation, the impacted boards, commissions, councils, and statutory corporations will be reconstituted in due order.
The statement made it clear that commissions that are independent constitutional creations are not included in this.
In the statement, President Mahama also wished the departing members luck in their future undertakings and thanked them for their commitment and service to the country.
Furthermore, the notice instructed the management of these statutory entities to wait for their respective boards to reconstitute before seeking approval from the Chief of Staff.
