Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, has denied that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) asked him for cooperation after he was elected as the Independent Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region.

The NPP clarified its stance in a press release on Monday, January 6, 2025, claiming that no such engagement had occurred.

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the NPP, signed the statement, which vehemently denied giving anyone permission to speak for the party in negotiations with A-Plus.

The party made it clear that any assertions to the contrary were unsupported and ought to be ignored. The statement said, "We want to make it clear that the New Patriotic Party has not met with A-Plus or ordered anyone to speak with him on our behalf."

The denial comes after A-Plus claimed in a social media post that he had been approached by the NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, with an offer of cooperation.

According to A-Plus, the proposal contained an assurance from the NPP that if he supported them in Parliament, they would not run for the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.

This offer, he said, was a major evidence that the party was serious about winning his support.

The NPP asked the public to ignore any false information that would damage its reputation and restated its dedication to openness.

Although his heart goes toward the National Democratic Congress (NDC), A-Plus stated in his article that he has not yet met with them to discuss the potential of uniting with them as well.
