Since taking office, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah has improved the region's reputation through significant infrastructural initiatives, which has been praised by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Following a presentation of his efforts at the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs' most recent general meeting, Otumfuo and the house showered the minister with accolades.

You coexisted peacefully with us ever since you were appointed. He didn't forget who he was. Despite being handed authority, he maintained his humility. We hope and pray that he will remain humble. He constantly brought his entourage to visit, and they all helped him perform better, which is something I always admire.

He has come to account for his stewardship to us today. We beg him to keep up the good work till the very end, even knowing his time is almost up. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II declared, "As traditional leaders, we will find a way to appreciate his effort in the region when his tenure is finally over."

During his first term in power, President Akufo-Addo first appointed Simon Osei Mensah as the Ashanti regional minister in 2017.

He became the first regional minister in recent history to hold the position for two terms in 2021 after President Akufo-Addo reappointed him as the region's minister for a second term.

Many residents have attacked his administration for having one of the worst infrastructure development records as his term draws to a conclusion and blame his administration for fuelling the nation's economic problems.

The Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs asked him to showcase the extent of infrastructure development over his nearly eight years in office as he is ready to resign.

The regional minister boasted about starting the building of almost 1178 educational projects, of which over 900 have been put into service, as well as 74 security service stations and 28 courts, of which 21 have been put into service.
