For several parliamentary elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) has provided justification for recalling the results.

In a statement, the EC clarified that recollections following elections were not new and cited several examples from past elections to support its choice to recall the outcomes of about nine seats.

According to the EC, the NDC candidate was declared the MP-elect after the EC re-examined and overturned the Pru constituency's parliamentary results under former EC Chair Afari Gyan.

It also referenced the 1998 district-level elections in the KEEA District's Dompoase Kokwaado Electoral Area, where the EC, under by Afari Gyan, reversed a previous ruling and declared the correct candidate the victor.
