The public has been told by the Ghana Police Service that there will be strong security measures in place for tomorrow, January 7, when President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang are sworn in.
The Ako Adjei Interchange, AU Roundabout, State House, Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, Accra Sports Stadium, Independence (Black Star) Square, Ministries Traffic Light, and Customs Headquarters are among the important locations that the police have set aside as part of their security operational perimeter in order to guarantee a seamless event.
On the day of the ceremony, road closures and limitations on both human and vehicle movement will be in place within this boundary from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Road Blockages and Detours
Several roads will be closed, including:
Road 28 February from Customs Headquarters to the intersection of Castle Road.
heading toward the AU Roundabout on Lokko Street.
Accra Sports Stadium is located on Starlet 91 Road between Ministries Traffic Light.
The following traffic diversion strategies will be used:
Salem Avenue and Oxford Street will be used as detours for cars traveling to the Central Business District from La, Labone, and Osu.
At Customs Headquarters, vehicles traveling to Independence Square on John Evans Atta Mills High Street will be rerouted onto Liberia Road.
Ajumaku and Oxford Streets must be used by drivers traveling on Lokko Street toward Castle Road.
Abdul Diouf and King Hassan Roads will be the new routes for traffic coming from the AU Roundabout toward Castle Road.
Parking and Public Access
There will be parking at specified areas, such as the State House Forecourt, Efua Sutherland Park, and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture's grounds. It is recommended that spectators and locals follow police instructions and traffic laws.
In order to guarantee a smooth and safe inauguration celebration, the police have asked the public to work closely with security personnel.
