President John Dramani Mahama has been urged by the Osu Traditional Council to act immediately to stop the revival of power outages, or "Dumsor." The Traditional Council issued a warning that such disruptions would have a detrimental effect on the livelihoods of people all around the country and have serious repercussions for companies.

These worries coincide with allegations of delays in pipeline maintenance by the West African Gas Pipeline Company and fuel shortages for thermal power plants.

Energy specialists have warned that if these problems are not addressed right away, the nation's energy problems may worsen.

Speaking at a press conference, Osu Osiahene Nii Nortey Adumuah IV urged the government to set aside enough funds to address the looming energy crisis and chastised the previous administration under Nana Akufo-Addo for failing to maintain energy infrastructure on time, which could have lessened some of these difficulties.

As they say, governance is a continuation, so when you look at some of these complaints, you should not take them lightly. As such, it is expected that you leave things in a way that at least your successor can carry them to a certain level while you are in office.

Since the president has been there and is aware of the issues the energy industry has been dealing with, I will encourage him to use his experience to speak with the participants in the power sector. Although it would be difficult, we hope he will use his skills to keep the light on because businesses will be impacted if it goes out.
