Nana Kumasah Krampa II, the Mankrado of Gomoa Asempayin in the Gomoa West district of the Central region, has requested that John Dramani Mahama, the president-elect, give the Central region's development first priority.
In order to foster economic growth, he wants the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to concentrate on expanding the region's many exceptional tourist destinations.
Large tracts of fertile terrain and abundant natural resources, such as diamonds in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa enclave, kaolin in the Mfantsiman area, petroleum and natural gas near Saltpond, gold, beryl, and bauxite in the Upper Denkyira district, and pigment clay, are found in the Central region.
The area is also well-known for its abundant natural attractions, medieval castles, cities, fishing villages, and beaches lined with palm trees.
The Central area is one of Ghana's poorest regions, despite its wealth and plenty of tourist attractions.
In an interview with Onua News, Nana Kumasah Krampa, the Mankrado of the Ninfa Division of the Gomoa Assin traditional area, voiced dissatisfaction with the past administrations for their inability to advance the area.
After four (4) of the region's natives served as vice presidents under the Fourth Republic, the chief questioned why the area still suffers.
He used the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Mahama on his resounding win in the recently concluded national elections.
He did, however, issue a challenge to Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the vice president-elect, to use her position to advance Central development.
