Nashiru Abdul Karim, the chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yendi Constituency, has declared that 184 members will be temporarily suspended for violating the party's constitution.

A news release on Wednesday, December 26, 2024, disclosed this.

The statement claims that the decision was made in accordance with the party's 2017 modified constitution's Article 3 Clause (9)(1), Clause (7)(1), and Clause (8)(1).

According to the statement, other members complained to the party leadership on multiple occasions about alleged constitutional violations by the suspended persons.

These petition-based concerns brought to light wrongdoing in the just-concluded presidential and legislative elections.

Both the party's Disciplinary Committee and Constituency Executive Committee conducted extensive investigations into the claims.

On December 23, 2024, an extended Constituency Executive Committee meeting was called in response to these inquiries.

Members of the Disciplinary Committee, the Council of Elders, and the Council of Patrons unanimously agreed to suspend the implicated parties during this meeting.

It was stated that the decision was required to preserve the integrity and tenets of the party's constitution.

Nashiru Abdul Karim reaffirmed the party's dedication to upholding discipline among its members and executing its regulations in the press release.

“With effect from December 26, 2024, I humbly inform the National and Regional leadership of the party and the public that the following members of the party have forfeited their membership or been summarily suspended,” he said.

These actions were taken to guarantee responsibility and adherence to the party's constitutional framework, the chairman emphasized.
