In order to prevent illnesses, Madam Priscilla Mensah, a senior meteorologist at Kotoka International Airport, has encouraged Ghanaians to prioritize wearing face masks.

She clarified that the northeast and the Sahara region are the origins of the harmattan and its dusty characteristics.

Until the end of February or the first week of March 2025, the public should brace themselves for more dusty weather conditions, the expert advised.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM's Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the weather is more severe than it was the previous year.

We urge the public, especially those who serve food near these trees, to cover their food to avoid contamination as we will encounter dusty conditions.

Until February or the first week of March 2025, the current weather pattern will persist. Additionally, we are urging Ghanaians to utilize face masks in order to avoid contracting colds and catarrhs," she stated.

She responded in the affirmative when asked if this may affect flight operations or air travel in any way.

Flights are still able to operate despite the extremely poor visibility. We haven't reached a stage where we must stop airplanes from taking off. We will send out an advise for them to take note of as needed. However, flights are currently able to operate.
