The Association of Cocoa producers Award Winners is optimistic that John Dramani Mahama, the incoming president, will revitalize the cocoa industry and raise crop producers' standard of living.
Charles Gyamfi, the Association's president, said in a statement that Mahama is the most qualified individual to address the sector's issues with measures that will turn around its deteriorating fortunes because of his background as a farmer and his expertise running the nation.
In a statement, Mr. Gyamfi congratulated the former President and the National Democratic Congress on their victories in the elections held on December 7. He stated that the forward-thinking policies of the NDC inspired cocoa growers and those working in the agricultural sector in general.
In order to help the industry and the nation as a whole, they hope Mahama and the party will put them into practice.
"Your dedication to updating farming methods while maintaining traditional knowledge especially inspires us. It's also heartening that you promised to fortify the cocoa pricing system to provide just compensation for our diligent farmers," he remarked.
The Association's president stated, "We think your leadership will be crucial in ensuring Ghana maximizes these opportunities for our farmers' benefit at this critical time when global cocoa prices are reaching historic highs."
In order to address the growing demand for environmentally conscious production worldwide and safeguard the nation's cocoa legacy for future generations, Mr. Gyamfi stated that the Association was especially keen to collaborate with the incoming government on sustainable farming techniques.
To begin, he stated that the committee was prepared to communicate with the transition team and present its comprehensive recommendations for bolstering Ghana's cocoa industry.
"As you form your government, we are ready to take part in any discussions regarding agricultural policy," Mr. Gyamfi stated.
Additionally, he commended President Mahama and the NDC for running a nonviolent and enthusiastic campaign that resulted in their historic victories in the parliamentary and presidential trials.
