Following the Electoral Commission's announcement that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had won seven of the nine disputed parliamentary seats, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has harshly criticized Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader.

Speaking on TV3 on the EC's Greater Accra regional office's recall procedure, Mr. Dafeamekpor charged that the NPP had manipulated politics in order to get a parliamentary majority.

He called the Majority Leader's and his party's actions a flagrant disrespect for the law.

Don't you respect the legal system while a case is in court? Afenyo is complimenting the results of exercises that are still pending before the Supreme Court at a press conference today. Then he says that since we are brothers, I should take it in good faith. Dear Afenyo, we are not brothers. Clearly frustrated, Mr. Dafeamekpor said.

The MP also attacked the NPP's political strategy, saying the party used dishonest methods to win elections.

He specifically criticized Mr. Afenyo-Markin for what he described as fabrications intended to support his claims in public.

"Afenyo ought to stop engaging in some of these lies. Mr. Dafeamekpor insisted, "He needs to quit making up stories to spice up his press conferences."

In addition, he threatened political repercussions and promised responsibility in the event that the National Democratic Congress seized power.

Even though they currently have government jobs, the true power has eluded them and is shifting to us. We will show where real power is when we seize control," he said.
