There are currently 12 disputed parliamentary seats that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has claimed to have won. Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Dome Kwabenya, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South West, Akwatia, Suhum, Fanteakwa North, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and Techiman South are among the areas the party claims to have claimed victory in.
Concerns over the compilation and announcement of parliamentary election results in specific constituencies that have experienced delays and associated problems were raised by Peter Mac Manu during a press conference.
In order to guarantee that the democratic will of the electorate is respected, he encouraged the Electoral Commission (EC) to promptly resume the collation process.
"To enable a peaceful collation in a calm setting, we beg the National Election Security Taskforce to provide sufficient security. In order to guarantee that the process ends without any more disruptions, we also implore the NDC leadership to control their followers," he stated.
He explained to the media that the party's assertion was supported by information from polling station results, particularly the official pink sheets that were turned in after the polls.
"We have no doubt that the elections were won by our parliamentary candidates in the aforementioned constituencies. We have repeatedly shown that this conclusion is supported by verified evidence from the pink sheets," he continued.
"We urge the European Commission and all stakeholders to take immediate steps to give effect to the will of voters as expressed in the December polls, in the interest of democracy and the peace of our dear country," the party stated.
In addition, he criticized the NDC and suggested that the party concede loss in the 12 seats.
In order to show responsible leadership, we urge the NDC leadership to summon its supporters to order. No action should jeopardize our democratic procedures at this critical juncture for our country," he stated.
