A recent controversy has erupted in the Ghanaian music, especially the Upper East Region scene involving artiste Martin Soore aka Soorebia and several unnamed colleagues who are catching strayed with guilt.
According to Soorebia, the said artistes, who previously declined to perform at Soorebia's annual "Made in Bolga" festival due to its sponsorship by an alcoholic beverage, are now facing accusations of hypocrisy.
Soorebia alleges these same artistes have since partnered with the very alcohol brand they initially shunned.
“They refused to perform on ‘Made In Bolga’ stage and reason was that it was sponsored by an alcoholic beverage and they are Muslims (makes sense).
They even attacked someone who they said is Muslim but came to support me. How are they now being sponsored by same alcohol brand? You no be Muslim again?
Gumatiisi Zanga” he said.
This perceived contradiction has sparked debate among fans and raised questions about the identity of those artistes who are most likely to be Muslims.
One of the Zongo or Muslim musicians Showboy also shared his opinion on the issues raised by Soorebia.
