A non-governmental organization (NGO), Joy Makers Foundation, has donated 300 exercise books, pencils, and erasers to schoolchildren at Katiu Primary in the Kasena Nankana West District in the Upper East Region.
The donation aimed to provide the schoolchildren with access to quality educational resources to enhance their learning.
During the event to present the items on Thursday, 16th January 2025, Mr. Kowoto Emmanuel, the team leader who addressed the school authorities on behalf of the Executive Director of the NGO, called on parents, teachers, and all other stakeholders to play active roles in supporting the less privileged in communities, especially in their educational development.
Mr. Kowoto took the opportunity to advise the schoolchildren to work hard in their studies, always complete their homework, and most importantly, respect their teachers and the elderly in the community.
He emphasized the value of education, describing it as one of the greatest gifts a person can receive. He encouraged children to make the most of their educational opportunities by gaining as much knowledge as possible to become better adults in society.
The headteacher of the school, Mr. Joshua Viozua, lauded the NGO for its kind gesture and thanked them for helping to ease the challenges some parents face in acquiring exercise books for their wards this academic year.
For his part, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Nelson Anezim, also expressed his appreciation to the founder of the NGO for contributing their quota towards educating children in the community and encouraged the NGO to continue extending a helping hand to the community to boost education and women's empowerment in the area.
