Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has raised concerns about the ongoing illegal mining (galamsey) crisis in Ghana.

He claimed that influential figures with “big pockets” are behind the illicit activity, which continues to devastate the country's environment and water bodies.

Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasized that these powerful individuals operate behind the scenes, making it difficult to tackle the issue effectively.

His remarks add to growing criticism of the government's efforts to curb illegal mining in the country.
