Nana Akua Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate in Ablekuma North, has vowed to continue battling for victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
On January 8, 2025, she spoke at the collation center in Accra, expressing confidence in her victory and emphasizing her dedication to ensure the truth wins.
In the fiercely contested Ablekuma North seat, Afriyie declared she would not give up the battle for her just triumph.
"Ablekuma North has 281 voting places. By God's grace, the truth will stand after it was reduced to 62. I am adamant and I respect the legal system that we ought to go and gather. Since I know I won, I want to state clearly that I will fight until the very end," Afriyie stated.
Additionally, the candidate reassured her supporters by pointing out that she had done a lot of preparation for the election.
We eventually have three polling places remaining. She stated, "By God's grace, I am leading comfortably, and that is the fear," suggesting that she thought she was on course to win.
But when Vincent Obeng, the Returning Officer for the Ablekuma North Constituency, declared he would stop the process, the collation process took a hit.
Because he was frustrated with the collation process, Obeng told the Electoral Commission (EC) that he was resigning.
He said that three polling places were still unfinished, while the results from four of the seven polling places had already been processed.
This unexpected turn of events raised concerns about the integrity of the election process, but Afriyie remained resolute in her belief that she had won.
