Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), delivered a passionate speech at the NDC Youth Wing's Victory Thanksgiving Service, celebrating the party's success in the December 7, 2024, general elections. Asiedu Nketia attributed the party's overwhelming victory to their perseverance and tireless efforts throughout the campaign ¹.
The service, held at the Accra Mall, was a jubilant celebration of the NDC's triumph, particularly the victory of their presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama. Mahama secured a decisive win in the fiercely contested elections, with a significant margin that left the Electoral Commission (EC) no choice but to declare him the winner.
Asiedu Nketia expressed gratitude to the party's supporters and emphasized the scale of the electoral victory. He also reiterated concerns about the allegedly flawed electoral system, claiming that the NDC's victory was not only a triumph over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but also over the compromised electoral system.
One of the key points of contention raised by Nketia was the EC's decision to re-collate results in some constituencies, which he argued was an attempt to alter the outcome in favor of the NPP. According to Nketia, this was a blatant effort to secure additional parliamentary seats for the ruling party, threatening the integrity of the election results.
