An important step was taken on January 13, 2025, when President John Dramani Mahama revoked Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng's appointment as the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF) CEO.

Dr. Callistus Mahama, the President's secretary, signed a letter confirming the decision.

Having been the CEO since September 2021, Koranteng is a seasoned attorney and investment banking specialist with over two decades of expertise in the field.

The Fund had remarkable expansion under his direction.

By the first quarter of 2024, the MIIF's Assets Under Management (AUM) had grown from $180 million to over $1 billion, demonstrating the Fund's strong growth under his leadership.

The Minerals Income Investment Fund Act of 2018 (Act 978) created the MIIF, a governmental organization.

Its main responsibilities include receiving mineral royalties, managing the Republic of Ghana's equity stakes in mining businesses, and handling other associated mining-related revenue.

Additionally, the Fund makes investments to guarantee growth and sustainability.

President Mahama has named Justina Nelson the MIIF's Acting CEO in accordance with the modifications.

While a permanent CEO is chosen, Nelson is anticipated to supervise the Fund's operations.

Until a new CEO is confirmed, Ghana's Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will also be involved in overseeing the Fund's activities.

Justina Nelson's appointment ushers in a new era for the MIIF.

The President acknowledged Mr. Koranteng's efforts during his tenure at the helm and thanked him for his service.

Even though Koranteng is no longer with the Fund, his influence on its performance will live on as evidence of his strategic vision and leadership.
