Born on March 24, 1944, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is from a well-known Ghanaian family. He attended Kinbu School after finishing his education at Government Boys School in Adabraka. Later on, he attended Lancing College in Sussex, England, to complete his O-Level and A-Level coursework. Following his studies at New College, Oxford, in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, Akufo-Addo went to Ghana to work as a teacher at Accra Academy and graduate from the University of Ghana in 1964 with a degree in Economics. Nana Akufo-Addo's political career has a long history that dates back to his well-known family. From 1970 to 1972, his father, Edward Akufo-Addo, served as Ghana's third Chief Justice and non-executive president. His maternal grandfather, Nana Sir Ofori Atta, was an important member of Ghana's pre-independence government and the King of Akyem Abuakwa.
