Christopher Kofi Okyere Sorkpa, a 33-year-old preacher, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for damaging vehicles belonging to Members and staff of Parliament. On December 18, Sorkpa and his accomplice, Wisdom Ahli, snuck into the Parliament House Car Park, where Sorkpa used an earth chisel to smash the windscreens of five cars, including two Toyota V8 SUVs, two Toyota Camry Saloon Cars, and one Rav 4 SUV.

The vehicles belonged to several individuals, including Members of Parliament Kwaku Okyere Agyekum and Eugene Boakye Antwi, as well as Parliamentary staff members Jessica Mensah, Sena Atsu, and Gifty Gbah. Sorkpa pleaded guilty to all six charges against him, including conspiracy to commit unlawful damage and unlawful damage.

The presiding judge, Samuel Bright Asiedu, sentenced Sorkpa to three years on the first count and 5 years on each of the remaining five counts, with the sentences to run concurrently. Wisdom Ahli, the second accused, was remanded into police custody due to defective charges, and the case has been adjourned to January 9, 2025, for amendment of the charges.
