DJ Slim, a well-known Ghanaian radio personality, has criticized award-winning musician Sarkodie for his controversial "back to gari soakings" comment. The outspoken DJ did not mince words while expressing his disappointment, telling Sarkodie to lower his head in shame for what he termed as an inappropriate and tone-deaf statement.

During a recent interview, Sarkodie mentioned "gari soakings" (a staple meal in Ghana generally associated with financial problems) while describing the country's current economic challenges, sparking outrage. Although some fans took his comment as a lighthearted take on difficult circumstances, others, notably DJ Slim, saw it as condescending and rude.

DJ Slim did not mince words on his radio show. "Sarkodie is a big name in the industry. People look up to him, and his words have meaning. "For him to trivialize the hardships Ghanaians are experiencing with a gari soakings joke is a slap in the face of his fans," he raged.

According to DJ Slim, Sarkodie's prominence as one of Africa's most influential musicians entails significant responsibilities. He claimed that the rapper's remark failed to capture the gravity of the difficulties that many Ghanaians are currently facing.

"Sarkodie has the ability to inspire and motivate people, especially during times like these. Instead, he chose to make light of a situation that many people take very personally. "He should bow his head in shame," Slim insisted.

As expected, the dispute sparked a heated debate on social media. While some fans agree with DJ Slim's criticism, others think Sarkodie's comment was taken out of context.

"Sark is simply keeping things honest. Gari soakings are part of our world, and he's not wrong to bring it up," one fan tweeted.

Critics, on the other side, feel that a superstar like Sarkodie should have spoken more carefully. "Now is not the time for jokes. "People are truly suffering," another wrote.

Sarkodie has yet to reply to the backlash. However, industry insiders anticipate the rapper will publish a statement or clarify his comment in the coming days to defuse emotions.

This isn't the first time a prominent figure's remarks have provoked outrage in Ghana's entertainment industry, but DJ Slim's stinging reprimand has brought the subject of celebrity accountability to the forefront.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the controversy over Sarkodie's "back to gari soakings" remark highlights the power of words and the responsibility that comes with fame. Fans will now wait to see how the legendary rapper handles this storm.
