A trader, Dorcas Twene Amankwa, has been convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for defrauding 97 victims of GHc402,000 in an enlistment scam. She falsely claimed to work at the Jubilee House and promised to secure jobs for her victims in state security establishments .
The scam involved fake letterheads and email addresses from the Office of the Chief of Staff, as well as phone calls, to make the job offers appear legitimate. The victims were asked to pay between GHc8,000 to GHc12,000 for the protocol recruitments .
Dorcas' family and friends claim that she was not the mastermind behind the scam and that others, including some Jubilee House officials, were involved. However, these individuals have not been charged or prosecuted .
