Due to their child's accident, Pastor Salifu Amoako and his son's mother were taken into custody.

The statement read, "Suspects Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, parents of the suspect driver involved in the fatal accident that claimed two lives at East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024, have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service today, October 15, 2024."

The incident was described in detail, saying, "So far, investigations have shown that on October 12, 2024, at Mensah Wood Street in East Legon, suspect driver Elrad Salifu Amoako, 16, driving a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801–20 and one other occupant, crashed into a 4x4 Acura vehicle also registered with number GR 2542–23, driven by Joseph Ackah and carrying four other occupants. Both vehicles caught fire and were severely burned.

"According to the investigation, two of the five victims in the Acura car at the time of the accident—Julie Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both 12 years old—died while the other three were rescued. Three of the rescued people are currently receiving medical attention on admission after being treated for minor injuries, according to the Ghana Police.



"The suspect driver and the other occupant in the Jaguar vehicle were also rescued and are currently on admission at the hospital," the official release continued. Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, the 16-year-old suspect driver's parents, are being held in custody to help with the investigation.



The grieving family received a condolence visit from a delegation from the Police Management Board, headed by Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), on October 15, 2024, after the unfortunate tragedy. at order to monitor the injured victims' progress, the IGP and his staff also paid them a visit at the hospital. To provide comfort to the bereaved family, the Police have reassured the public that a comprehensive investigation into the tragedy is in progress. The authorities have offered their condolences and best wishes to the impacted families at this trying time as the inquiry is ongoing.
