The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is set to introduce a new pre-payment system in the Volta Region. This innovative system is designed to enhance customer experience and convenience.
The new pre-payment system will enable customers with non-smart prepaid meters to purchase credit from the comfort of their own homes. This will be made possible through the use of a special ECG card reader and the Brassica App.
The pilot project is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2025. Initially, 200 meters in the Ho and Hohoe Districts will be part of the pilot project.
The General Manageress of ECG, Christina Kaleo-Jatoe, announced the pilot project at a press engagement. She explained that the project aims to address the challenges faced by non-smart meter clients who are unable to purchase prepaid credit at odd hours.
To access the new system, customers will need a smartphone and the Brassica App, which is available on Play and App Stores. The app allows subscribers to purchase credit through mobile money wallets on any network of their choice.
The ECG is committed to improving customer experience and convenience in the Volta Region. The new pre-payment system is just one of the initiatives being implemented to achieve this goal.
The pilot project will help the ECG to identify and address any challenges that may arise before the system is rolled out to other areas in the Volta Region.
The ECG is also working on improving power supply in the Volta and Oti Regions through various projects, including expanding power supply, upgrading transformers, building substations, and double satisfier lines.
Overall, the introduction of the new pre-payment system is a positive development for customers in the Volta Region. It is expected to enhance customer experience and convenience, and improve the overall efficiency of the ECG's operations.
