The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) will break on Thursday, December 5, 2024. This decision allows staff and eligible students sufficient time to travel to their respective constituencies and participate in the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024 .

According to Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, Deputy Director-General of the GES, this break is essential to ensure that staff and eligible students can fully participate in the democratic process. Regional Directors have been instructed to ensure compliance with the directive .

This move is significant, as it underscores the importance of the educational sector's role in the democratic process. The GES has encouraged all eligible voters within the sector to take advantage of this opportunity to cast their votes .
