The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a strong warning to the public, cautioning against attempts by mobs to disarm military personnel on authorized duties. This warning comes after recent confrontations between security forces and mobs in various parts of the country.
According to Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General of Public Relations, GAF, military personnel have the right to defend themselves, innocent civilians, and property. This includes the use of lethal force, if necessary, to preserve lives and ensure stability.
The GAF urged citizens to act responsibly and cooperate with security personnel as they work to restore law and order, particularly in partnership with the Ghana Police Service. The statement emphasized the importance of exercising civic rights responsibly and refraining from any acts that could disrupt the peace.
The GAF reaffirmed its dedication to protecting the nation, stating, "We remain committed to safeguarding the stability and sovereignty of Ghana." This warning serves as a reminder to ensure the safety of both personnel and civilians.
