Fatawu Ibrahim, also known as "Fatau Motorway," has finally been arrested by the Ghana Police Service after a violent clash between NPP and NDC supporters in Mamobi, Accra, on October 13, 2024. He was declared wanted after being caught on camera wielding a gun during the clashes, which left two people with gunshot wounds and nine others injured
The police had been searching for him for weeks and even offered a GH₵ 20,000 reward for anyone with information leading to his capture. They released images of Fatawu and sought public help in locating him and other individuals involved in the clashes
Now that he's in police custody, Fatawu will face charges related to the violence in the coming days. This arrest is part of an intelligence-led investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the unrest. The police have restored calm in the area, but tensions remain high as the 2024 general election approaches.
Interestingly, another person has already been detained in connection with the clashes, and the police are continuing their investigations to ensure all individuals involved are brought to justice.
