: Kumawood actress Matilda Asare has made some serious allegations against presidential hopeful Alan Kyerematen, claiming he's working against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2024 elections. She says Alan, also known as "Alan Cash," is being funded by rival parties to disrupt NPP's stronghold in Kumasi and reduce Bawumia's support base in the Ashanti Region .
Matilda's accusations don't stop there - she also alleges that Alan is subtly encouraging voters to reject Bawumia due to his Northern heritage, calling it divisive and unpatriotic. She claims to have confidential info about Alan's alleged plot and vows to expose him if necessary.
Predictably, these claims have sparked mixed reactions among Ghanaians and within the NPP. Some party supporters agree with Matilda's concerns, while others urge calm and unity to prevent internal divisions that could harm the party's electoral prospects.
It's worth noting that Alan Kyerematen recently resigned from the NPP to run as an independent candidate, and he has yet to respond to these allegations. Political analysts think the accusations highlight growing tensions within the party and the stakes involved in the 2024 elections.
Calls for reconciliation within the NPP have intensified, with party faithful stressing the importance of solidarity to ensure a strong showing at the polls. Whether or not Matilda Asare's claims hold merit, the controversy has added complexity to the already heated political atmosphere.
