Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik has asked Ghanaians if they had used the electric buses offered by former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Scott Bolshevik also questioned whether the electric buses were another ruse by Dr. Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party.

Scott Bolshevik, known for his constant analysis of Ghana-related issues on social media platform X, particularly the Ghanaian economy, posted on his X page, "Have any Ghanaians actually used these electric buses, or was this just another deception by Bawumia and the NPP to win the 2024 election?"

On November 27, 2024, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia launched the country's first battery-electric bus fleet.

According to Dr. Bawumia, when they made the announcement, the skeptics as usual claimed it was impossible. Nonetheless, they emphasized that if other countries can employ electric buses to make life better for their inhabitants, why can't Ghana?

In a post on X, Dr Bawumia stated "The introduction of the electric buses, fulfills our promise to introduce new measures to significantly cut down the cost of public transportation, which is part of our broader vision to bring down the cost of living" .

"With the new buses powered through charging its electric system, and not through fuel, its operational cost will be reduced significantly, thus, also reducing the cost of public transport by 40% to 50%" , his post on X stated.

The vice president further stated that the new age is not only for government buses, but it also provides an opportunity for private-owned bus and trotro services to reduce operational costs when the initiative is completely implemented with electric charging stations around Accra's cities.

He continued with the words "With a mindset of possibility, we will, together, make many things possible and transform our country" .
