Tragedy has struck the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) community with the untimely death of Afia Dedaa Osae, a bright and vibrant third-year student.

Afia's life was tragically cut short when she was struck by a speeding trotro, a common commercial minibus in Ghana, while attempting to cross a busy road near the university.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV, has sent shockwaves through the community, with many taking to social media to express their grief and condolences.

Afia was described by friends and lecturers as an ambitious and intelligent young woman with a bright future ahead of her. Her sudden passing has left not just her family but also the entire KNUST community reeling from shock and sorrow.

The tragedy has also highlighted the pressing issue of reckless driving in Ghana, with many calling on authorities to take urgent action to regulate trotro drivers and improve pedestrian safety measures near schools and busy areas.

As the community comes to terms with the loss of Afia, many are remembering her as a shining star whose life was tragically cut short. May her soul rest in peace, and may her tragic death inspire a long-overdue change to protect innocent lives.
