Togbui James Ocloo V, the Paramount Chief of Keta, expressed displeasure and frustration with former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to deliver on his pledge to build the Keta Port ¹.
According to the chief, the community was optimistic that the project would bring economic growth and prosperity to the region. However, despite countless pledges and guarantees, nothing has been accomplished.
"We waited and waited, but that government left power, and nothing was done," said the chief ².
The Keta Port project has been in the works for numerous years, with various governments promising to develop it. However, the project has been stopped due to a lack of money and other issues.
The chief's views reflect the growing resentment and despair among Keta residents, who believe they have been neglected and abandoned by the government.
The halted port project is not only a loss for the local economy; it also represents the government's broken promises and failed aspirations.
As the new administration takes office, the inhabitants of Keta hope that their complaints will be addressed and the port project restarted.
The chief's call to action reminds the government to prioritize its residents' needs and keep its promises.
"We need action, not promises," the chief said.
The Keta Port project is an important part of the local economy, and its success is critical to the area's growth and prosperity. The government must take quick measures to address the concerns of Keta residents and restart the halted project.
