Lawyer Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, has strongly condemned the recent comments made by Lt. Col. Jacob Cudjoe, Commanding Officer of the Achiase Jungle Warfare School. Lt. Col. Cudjoe had stated that the military would intervene if law enforcement agencies failed to maintain order during the upcoming December 7 general elections.

Lawyer Kpebu criticized the military's rapid involvement in the elections, emphasizing that Ghana has been a democratic country for over 32 years. He questioned why a military officer would make comments reminiscent of the days of the PNDC or AFRC.

Kpebu also expressed concerns about the military's potential deployment at polling stations, citing instances of military brutality in the past. He emphasized that the military's role is to defend against external aggression, as stated in Article 210 of the Constitution.

Instead, Kpebu suggested that the military should be deployed strategically, out of sight and sound, and that the police are capable of handling the situation.
