A University of Ghana security guard has publicly criticized Hon. Lydia Alhassan Seyram, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, for allegedly trying to bribe him with a 5kg bag of rice and a small bottle of cooking oil. The guard expressed his disappointment, stating that this was the only thing Alhassan had given him in the past eight years. He emphasized that he couldn't be bribed and that Ghana needs developmental projects and good policies, not material goods.
The guard's comments have sparked a lot of discussion on social media, with many people commending him for speaking out. Some think he might vote for John Dumelo, the NDC parliamentary candidate, who has been working hard in the community. Critics of Alhassan say that this incident shows a bigger problem in Ghanaian politics, where voters are often given small gifts instead of real solutions to their problems.
Interestingly, some people have defended Alhassan, saying that giving out items like rice and oil is a common practice among politicians, especially during election campaigns. They argue that it's not necessarily a bribe, but rather a gesture of goodwill. However, Alhassan has not publicly responded to the allegations, leaving many to speculate about the incident.
