Dr. Stephen Amoah, a Ghanaian Member of Parliament, has admitted to pulling out a gun during a heated altercation with some youth at Atasemanso. He claims his actions were in self-defense, stating that his life was in danger and he had to defend himself. The incident has sparked conversations about firearm use in Ghana, especially among politicians and other public figures.


Dr. Stephen Amoah is a Ghanaian politician and financial economist who has made significant contributions to the country's development. Born on March 27, 1970, in Kronum Afrancho, Ghana, he has risen through the ranks to become a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics .

Dr. Amoah holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Actuarial Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a Master of Science degree in Strategic Financial Management from the University of Derby, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from KNUST .

In his political career, Dr. Amoah has served as the Member of Parliament for the Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region since 2021 . He is also a member of the Finance Committee and the Privileges Committee in Parliament .

Before his political career, Dr. Amoah worked as the Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and as the Deputy National Coordinator of the National Insurance Authority (NHIA) . He has also served as a board member of several institutions, including GCB Bank and the Ghana COCOBOD .

Dr. Amoah has been recognized for his contributions to Ghana's development, particularly in the areas of finance and economics. He has presented papers and spoken at conferences on topics related to finance, investment, and economic development .

In addition to his political and professional career, Dr. Amoah is also a sports enthusiast and has established a football club, Kumasi FC, in Kumasi .
