A security guard at the University of Ghana, Legon, has boldly rejected a gift from Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon. The guard received a 5kg bag of rice and a small bottle of cooking oil, which he felt was insufficient considering he had received similar gifts from the MP during previous election periods, but nothing in between .
The guard's rejection of the gift was caught on video, where he expressed his disappointment and stated, "My vote is not coming to you." Lydia Alhassan has since responded, claiming that the guard is an NDC executive and that she didn't comment on the issue earlier because she didn't want to mar her election campaign .
It's worth noting that the guard's actions have been seen as a stand for integrity, with many praising him for rejecting the gift and speaking out against what he perceived as an attempt to buy his vote .
